Macy Gray, who is hot on the promo trail in support of her August 10-due studio album ‘The Reset,’ has experienced a reset of sorts herself after landing in hot water for controversial comments she made about gender identity.
Statements perceived by many as ‘transphobic,’ Gray braved quite the backlash earlier this week after she took to ‘Piers Morgan Uncensored’ to say she believes that “just because you go change your parts, doesn’t make you a woman.”
Later defending her words as taken out of context and ‘grossly misunderstood,’ Macy moseyed to ‘The Today Show’ Thursday (July 7) to double down on her true intention and reaffirm her support for the LGBTQ+ community.

As the fallout over her comments continues, the GRAMMY winner has had a seeming change of tune.
“I think it takes a lot of courage to be yourself, to go out in the world and be honest about who you are. And so I think anyone who is in the LGBT community is a hero and sets an example for all of us,” Gray said. “I said some things that didn’t go over well, but my intention was never to hurt anybody. I feel bad that I did hurt some people.”
Macy reveals she believes the experience has been one of learning for her.
“It’s just about education,” she said before later revealing that “education is about conversation and us getting to a point where we understand each other.”

The only mistake she made was allowing Piers to bait her. Cable news is extremely destructive to society because the 24 hours news cycle needs 24 hours worth of content. Social sewage like Piers Morgan, and many others, will say and do whatever to create news. No matter how divisive or destructive. Many people, even trans supporters, feel the same way Macy Gray does. But she should not be made to be their spokesperson.

The nucleus accumbens (in the brain) determines gender identity and develops when a baby is in the womb. We all start out female in the womb. A foetus that develops into a male body, may have a nucleus accumbens telling it that it’s a girl. So the baby will be born with a male body, but a brain telling it that it’s a girl and visa versa. That creates a transgender person. So stop pretending you know science when you know JACK ISH.
Again, she did Not change stance or back pedal. She simply softened her delivery. That’s it. That’s all. She said what she said, however some folks need to receive the truth with a a whole bunch of “oohs and “aahs” for it to digest. This is no different than what she said before. She just added a little flowers so folks could digest it better. I’ll wait for her to actually say trans women are women.
It won’t happen.
When she says it’s been a huge learning experience for her, I think she’s reiterating what she said about us not all being at a point where we can understand each other. If we were at that point, more people would understand that Macy was speaking facts. Lia Thomas’ winning streak and the two pregnancies at Edna Mahan prison are just three examples of why we cannot pretend that biology doesn’t matter. There are certain limitations that shouldn’t be crossed or confused.
